Justin Lee Sogn

Justin Lee Sogn, 44, of Rapid City, SD, died August 7, 2023 at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.

A celebration of life gathering will be from 12:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 3322 Leland Lane in Rapid City, SD.

Justin Lee Sogn was born on July 15, 1979, in Lusk, WY to Patricia A (Seibold – Sogn) Battista and the deceased Douglas “Doug” Sogn.

Justin grew up in Edgemont, SD, graduating in 1999 from Edgemont High School. After high school Justin moved to Loveland Colorado and worked as an electrician for Fiske Electric. In 2002 Justin moved back to Edgemont and began employment with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

In 2005, Justin met the love of his life Wendy Christian. Justin was a step-father to Dakota, Mercedez, and (lil) Justin Mohler.

Justin enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. His biggest hobbies and love was for dirt track racing, along with Rush and Avalanche hockey. This all continued even with Justin battling cancer. Justin battled hard until the end to be with his family and friends.

Justin is survived by his wife Wendy, and his three children Dakota (Jacque) Mohler of Douglas, WY. Mercedez (Alex) Gauvin of Rapid City, SD, Justin Mohler of Rapid City and one grandson Jaymeson Mohler. Mother Patty (Cleland) Battista of Rapid City, SD., Adopted brown sister Linda (Dale) Hjelseth of Rapid City. Brother Jason Sogn of Portland, OR and Jeremy (Kristi) Sogn of Haslet, TX. Niece, Marisa Sogn and Nephews, Daniel, Rylan, Camden Sogn, three stepsisters of Amber (Gary) Ulmer, Mobridge, SD, Brittany (Todd) Battles, Sturgis, SD, Courtney Battista, Sioux Falls, SD., and many friends.

Preceded in death by his father Douglas Sogn; grandparents Bill and Vivian Sogn and Bennie and Margie Seibold.
