Ruben Lamoine McCloskey

White River, SD – Ruben Lamoine McCloskey, 93 of White River, died April 8, 2023 at the White River Health Care Center.

He was born June 15, 1929 in Rapid City, SD to James Bordeaux and Pauline McCloskey.

As a young man he lived with his family in Rapid City and was educated in Rapid City public Schools.
When he turned 17 he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. After serving his country he returned to Rapid City and married Natalie Rich. They had nine children together.

Ruben loved attending and dancing at Pow Wows. He worked for the United Sioux Tribe for over 15 years. He enjoyed traveling and attending meetings and helping Native Americans obtain employment and finding them a home to call their very own.

Ruben is survived by his children Ruben McCloskey, Jr., Ione McCloskey, James McCloskey, Phillip McCloskey, Corolana McCloskey and David McCloskey.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Natalie; his second wife, Millie McCloskey; daughters, Corrine Marinez, Natalie McCloskey and Sherri McCloskey.

Funeral Services will be 5:00 pm Monday, April 17, 2023 at Knollwood Heights United Methodist Church, 320 E. College Ave, Rapid City, SD.

Interment Services with military honors conducted by Rushmore Post #1273 Honor Guard will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 18, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
