Lloyd Alexander Moncur

Belle Fourche, SD – Lloyd Alexander Moncur, 93 of Belle Fourche, died Thursday, March 17, 2022, at his
son’s home in Belle Fourche.

Lloyd was born June 13, 1928, in Camp Crook, SD to Alexander and Olga (Bye) Moncur. As a young boy
he lived with his parents on the family ranch 15 miles south of Camp Crook, and was educated at the
Dryfield School, just north of the ranch. After completing the 8 th grade his formal education stopped,
and he worked full time on the family ranch for 75 years.

On October 29, 1952 he married Leone Olson in Miles City, MT. The couple lived on the Moncur family
ranch and raised three sons; Dale, Darwin, and Dean. In 1982, they divorced and Lloyd continued to
operate the family ranch. Lloyd and Leone remained good friends, and continued to raise their children
and spend holidays together. In 2012 he decided it was time to retire and subsequently moved to Belle
Fourche, to live with his son Darwin and his family.

Lloyd was baptized on July 29, 1928; and confirmed on June 25, 1944 of the Lutheran faith, at the Little
Missouri Lutheran Church in Capital, MT. He was also a long time member of the Camp Crook Volunteer
Fire Department. He enjoyed raising cattle, sheep, horses, and kids, on the family ranch. He took great
and caring pleasure in his family, friends, and neighbors, and his Harding County home.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1951, his mother in 1980, Leone in 2022, and an infant
brother Lester in 1931.

Survivors include three sons, Dale, Belle Fourche; Darwin (Toni), Belle Fourche; and Dean, Piedmont; five
grandchildren, Ty Moncur, Ryan Moncur, Alex Moncur; Belle Fourche; Wyatt Tibbitts, Piedmont, SD; and
Jessica (Wade) Kornemann, Arvada, WY; three great-grandchildren, Daeson Moncur, Belle Fourche,
Ryder and Bodie Kornemann, Arvada, WY; and his cousin Gene (Janice) Moncur, Miller, SD.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Camp Crook
Community Center. Funeral services will follow with Reverend Mike Smith officiating. Interment will
take place at the Capital Cemetery, Capital, MT.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
