Dale Edward Hayford

Spearfish, SD - Dale Edward Hayford 63, of Spearfish, SD passed away May 1, 2023 from health complications. 

Dale was born on July 3, 1959 in Sturgis, SD to Nathan and Mary Ella Hayford.   He graduated from Sturgis High School in 1977 and attended Western Dakota Vo-tech shortly after.   After school, Dale pursued his career at the sawmill in Spearfish where he spent 38 years before he retired in 2022.    Dale was a member of the Belle Fourche Volunteer Fire Department for ten years.  Through the sawmill and Fire Department he met many great friends that held a very special place in his heart. On May 25, 1979, Dale married his loving wife of 41 years, Sydni Dee Sunding. To this union two sons were born, Derek and Tate.   

Dale enjoyed spending time with his family, being outdoors, watching the Atlanta Braves, and Falcons. He also took great pride in his lawn. Later in life he enjoyed relaxing nights by the fire pit, being in the Black Hills hunting, riding 4-wheelers, and going on group motorcycle rides with his friends.

Dale is survived by his sons, Derek (Amanda) of Spearfish, SD, Tate (Jen) of Madison, SD, grandchildren, Alexis, Kenadi, Hallie, Presleigh and Luke.    Siblings Janice, Ray, Marilyn and Debbie and multiple other friends and family who thought the world of him. Dale is preceded in death by his wife, Sydni, his father, mother, and two sisters Betty and Judy.
