Bonnie C. Plooster

Piedmont, SD - Bonnie C. Plooster, 76, of Piedmont, died May 26, 2022, at Monument Health Care in Rapid City, SD.  

Bonnie Clair Plooster was born to Nels K Nelson and Amanda Ovedia (Olson) Nelson on August 23, 1945, in Yankton, SD. In 1972, she met her husband David Melvin Plooster, while living in Gayville, SD. They married on November 15, 1975, moving to Scottsdale, AZ that same year. In June 1976 they moved to Rapid City, SD. Their son Mathew David Plooster was born in November 1981. In 1988, Bonnie and David bought acreage near Piedmont, SD where she lived until her passing on May 26, 2022. 

Bonnie held various accounting and bookkeeping jobs, and did lapidary work with David and her nephew, Jim Schoon. Together, they restored fossils and gemstones, selling them at several gem and mineral shows across the country. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking what she grew. She was a lover of animals and cared for many cats and dogs throughout her life. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings: Millie, Beverly, Alton "Bud", and Cleo.

Survivors include her son, granddaughter, Breyleigh Smith, and siblings: Sharon Wamboldt, Shirley Pickhinke, Roger Nelson, and Cynthia Francis, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday June 6, with a visitation one hour prior, at Grace Reformed Church in Rapid City, SD with Reverend David Fagrey officiating. Interment will follow at the Piedmont Cemetery in Piedmont, SD. 

A memorial has been established to the Grace Reformed Church.
